Scottsdale Arizona Real Estate

Located in the Valley of the Sun and named by the New York Times as one of the “hippest and most happening places in the country”, the city of Scottsdale, Arizona is now the 6th Largest City in Arizona.  As of 2009, the population in Scottsdale, Arizona was 244,250. 

Scottsdale, Arizona is considered an upscale tourist and shopping destination.  It was originally known as Orangedale and later named Scottsdale in 1894. Scottsdale borders Phoenix, an Indian Reservation, McCormick Ranch, Tempe, Fountain Hills and Paradise Valley.  Scottsdale was once semi-landlocked until a portion of McCormick Ranch was soon developed into homes and businesses, which helped the economy in Scottsdale boom.

Due to its high quality of life , Scottsdale AZ was voted the most livable city in the United States in 1993.  It is ranked as one of the premier golf and resort destinations in the world and is home to the PBR Open Golf Tournament at the Tournament Players Club.

The tourism industry is Scottsdale, Arizona’s biggest employer. Scottsdale features first class golf courses, Destination Spas, High-End Nightlife, Luxury Stores, and one of the countries leading Local Arts community.

Old Town Scottsdale is the perfect area for some daytime shopping or it’s exciting night life.  This is also where you will find the infamous Scottsdale Fashion Mall. Scottsdale is home to the famous Scottsdale Fashion Week. 

It is also the Spring Training home for the San Francisco Giants.  Many people are drawn to the City of Scottsdale, AZ because of it’s easy freeway access, public transportation system, and due to the single runway airport in Scottsdale (primarily for general and corporate aviation). 

Although the real estate market in Arizona has taken a significant hit, the Scottsdale Arizona market is less affected than most cities in Arizona with foreclosures and short sales.  The city seems to hold its value steadier than most.   The Real Estate Market in Scottsdale is among the Highest in the U.S.  It is one of the Top Ten Markets for Luxury Sales.
